Find the Right Level of Care for Your Recovery
Our Programs
Partial Hospitalization Program
Welcome to Recovery Is a Beach’s Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP), where we provide intensive and comprehensive treatment for individuals struggling with addiction. Our PHP offers a structured and supportive environment to help you achieve lasting sobriety and reclaim control of your life.
A Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) — sometimes called “day treatment” — is an intermediate level of care that sits between residential treatment and traditional outpatient care. It provides many of the same clinical services you’d receive in a residential program — individual therapy, group therapy, psychiatric care, and medication management — but without requiring you to live on-site.
PHP is designed for individuals who need more structure and clinical support than standard outpatient treatment provides, but who are medically stable enough that they don’t require 24-hour supervision. Most PHP schedules run five to six days a week, several hours per day, allowing clients to return home or to a supportive sober living environment each evening.
Who Is PHP Right For?
Partial Hospitalization Program is often the right fit for someone who:
- Has recently completed medical detox or residential treatment and needs a structured step-down level of care
- Has a stable, substance-free home environment to return to each evening
- Needs more clinical support than a standard Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) can provide
- Is managing a co-occurring mental health condition alongside a substance use disorder
- Wants to continue working, attending school, or caring for family while still receiving intensive treatment
What a Typical Day in PHP Looks Like
Each day in our Partial Hospitalization Program follows a structured schedule designed to build consistency and momentum in early recovery. A typical day may include:
Morning Check-In & Goal-Setting
Each day begins with a check-in to set intentions and goals, helping you stay focused and accountable throughout your treatment.
Group Therapy
Sessions focused on topics like relapse prevention, coping skills, and emotional regulation, alongside peers who understand your journey.
Individual Therapy
One-on-one time with your primary counselor to work through personal challenges and track progress on your treatment plan.
Psychiatric Care & Medication Management
As needed, our clinical team provides psychiatric support and manages medications to help stabilize co-occurring conditions.
Educational Workshops
Guided sessions on addiction, mental health, and practical life skills to build a stronger foundation for lasting recovery.
Reflection, Meals & Connection
Time to unwind, share a meal, and connect with peers in the program before the day winds down.
Clients typically attend PHP for several hours a day, then return home or to a sober living environment in the evening — allowing them to begin practicing recovery skills in real-world settings while still receiving daily clinical support.

Benefits of Choosing PHP
More support than outpatient care alone — daily clinical contact instead of just a few sessions a week.
More flexibility than residential treatment — you keep your evenings and can maintain some day-to-day responsibilities.
A strong step-down option after detox or residential care, reducing the risk of relapse during a vulnerable transition period.
Access to psychiatric and medical support for co-occurring mental health conditions.
A built-in support network of peers going through similar experiences.
PHP vs. IOP vs. Residential Treatment: What's the Difference?
It's common to wonder how PHP compares to other levels of care:
Highest Level of Care
Residential Treatment
Provides 24/7 supervision and support in a live-in setting — typically the right starting point for those who need medical detox or a higher level of structure.
Structured Day Treatment
Partial Hospitalization (PHP)
Offers several hours of treatment per day, most days of the week, while you return home each evening — more intensive than IOP, less intensive than residential.
Flexible, Ongoing Support
Intensive Outpatient (IOP)
Involves fewer hours per week than PHP, making it a good fit for those stepping down from PHP or who need a flexible option alongside work or school.
Many clients move through this continuum — starting with detox or residential care, stepping down to PHP, then IOP, and finally standard outpatient support — building independence at each stage.

Frequently Asked Questions
Length of stay varies by individual, but most clients participate in PHP for two to four weeks before stepping down to a lower level of care, depending on clinical progress and needs.
Most PPO plans and many other insurance providers cover some or all of the cost of Partial Hospitalization Programs. We offer free, no-obligation insurance verification to help you understand your coverage before starting treatment.
Not necessarily — it depends on your individual clinical needs. If you require medical detox, our team can help coordinate that first, often through our residential partner, before transitioning you into PHP.
It depends on the program's daily schedule and your personal circumstances. Many clients structure their treatment hours around part-time work or other responsibilities — our admissions team can help you figure out what's realistic for your situation.
